I’m not an expert but there seems to be a distinction between “casual” and “designer” knitwear, as witnessed in the Woollen Wars (1752-1754)

That young model in the link looks like his fuming with anger, because they made him wear these ‘casual knitwear.’ Your giraffe looks a thousand times happier even if she doesn’t have mouth and her friends aren’t as appreciative of the clothes as they should.
I think you could well be right. However Alan is now fuming mad after you referred to him as a “she” giraffe.
