Sometimes, I feel sorry for serpent. They’ve had a very bad pressssssss.
Below, an illuminated letter S from a manuscript found at Saint Patrick’s Monastery in Ireland.
St. Patrick is reknowed for using some kind of religious magic to cast all snakes out of the country. In the manuscript, it is shown that he only did this because he was terrified of “wiggly, wriggly” things, writing “they give me the heebie jeebies”.




  1. I don’t know what does this mean in context of St. Patrick’s deed, but this is not a drawing of a serpent, it’s a giraffe. Man, I hope the whole affair wasn’t just a misunderstanding. Poor ssssnakesssss.
